Progress Made In Concrete Truckers Strike Talks

NEW YORK (AP) ― As Day 8 of a strike by concrete truck drivers begins, both sides in the dispute said they have made progress during talks.

Teamsters Local 282 and the Association of New York City Concrete Producers said in a joint statement Wednesday that they met for several hours Tuesday night, and that "progress was made and the issues narrowed."

They said they will continue to meet daily in an effort to reach "an agreement that is fair and equitable as soon as possible."

The 400 drivers went on strike last Tuesday, disrupting work at many of the city's biggest construction sites, including the World Trade Center site.
