10 Injured In Long Island Bus-Van Crash

Suffolk County Police Say 3 People Are In Critical Condition

NESCONSET, N.Y. (CBS) ― At least 10 people were injured, including three critically, after a charter bus and a van collided head-on in Nesconset in Suffolk County on Friday afternoon.

The accident happened shortly before 4 p.m. on Route 347 at Southern Boulevard just north of Lake Ronkonkoma and between the Lake Grove and Village of the Branch communities.
 
It's not known how the accident happened or who was at fault.

CBS 2 learned that the van had 10 passengers inside while the bus was apparently empty.

Multiple medivac choppers and numerous ambulances were called in from neighboring towns to help transport the injured, all of whom have been taken to area hospitals.

Police have closed of Nesconset Highway completely as they investigate.
