Phelps Shatters 200 Free Record, Takes 3rd Gold

BEIJING (CBS) ― Michael Phelps captured his third gold medal of the Beijing Games on Tuesday, shattering the world record in the 200 freestyle.

Phelps' time of 1:42.96 was nearly one second faster than the previous record.

The medal was the ninth gold and 11th overall of Phelps' incredible career, tying him with Matt Biondi for the all-time lead.
