Seven Pedestrians Struck By Car On LES

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Seven pedestrians were struck by a car that jumped the curb near Rutgers Street and Madison Street on Manhattan's Lower East Side on Friday.

Police say the 60-year-old male driver lost control of his 1989 Pathfinder and drove up on the sidewalk, striking the pedestrians shortly before noon.

All seven victims were transported to local hospitals with injuries. Two were listed in critical condition at Bellevue Hospital, fire officials said, though none appeared life threatening.

Police are investigating what caused the driver to lose control of the car.

No charges have been filed.
