2 Killed In Horrific Collision On Route 78

At least two people were killed after a dump truck overturned along Route 78 in Union, NJ.

A dump truck overturned in the eastbound lanes of Route 78 after apparently traveling on the westbound side and crossing lanes.

At least two people were killed in a frightening accident involving a dump truck and a tractor trailer and several other vehicles on Route 78 in Union, CBS 2 has learned.
The accident occurred around 11 a.m. in the eastbound express lanes of 78, near Springfield Avenue. Officials have shut down all express lanes, and local lanes are backing up and moving slowly as a result.
Police have confirmed at least two deaths.
It appears the dump truck may have been traveling westbound and crossed over into the eastbound lanes, slamming head-on into at least two other vehicles and overturning. A tractor trailer traveling eastbound also crashed apparently after swerving out of the path of the dump truck.
Officials have not confirmed a cause of the wreck.
