A new poll is showing that Democrats in California are now supporting Barack Obama for the party's nomination.
Even though Obama lost the California Democratic primary to Hillary Rodham Clinton by eight percentage points in February, results of a new Field Poll shows that 51 percent of the Democrats in the state who were asked prefer Obama, versus 38 percent for Clinton.
The poll also shows both Democrats holding a commanding lead over presumed Republican presidential nominee John McCain in hypothetical matchups.
Each holds a 17 percentage point edge over McCain among all likely general election voters.
The Field Poll was conducted by telephone from May 16-27 with 914 likely California voters.
