Democrat Barack Obama says middle-class tax cuts are "absolutely necessary" for an economy that could be sliding into recession.
The presidential candidate laid out his requirements for the $700 billion bailout to ease the financial crisis. He said earlier Tuesday that if elected, he probably would have to delay the spending programs he has called for during his campaign in light of the massive government bailout.
Obama told reporters in Florida that middle-class tax cuts are, in his words, "something I believe is absolutely necessary to strengthen an economy sliding into economic recession."
