Giuliani Looks To Crash Obama's Party In Denver

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani came to the Democratic National Convention to try and play spoiler to Barack Obama's party.

There's a lot of talk of unity here at the Democratic National Convention, but one New Yorker is in Denver with a totally different mission: divide and conquer.
Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani has come to play the spoiler, to use his credibility as the enemy of terrorists to pick up support for Republican candidate Sen. John McCain, especially from any disaffected supporters of Sen. Hillary Clinton.
"[Sen. Barack Obama] has never done anything where he had to make difficult decisions. He's never run a city, he's never run a state, he's never run a government of any kind," Giuliani said. "He's never run an agency, he's never run a business."
And Giuliani went even further, making fun of Obama's ability to respond if terrorists strike again.
"I think I have the same reservations that Hillary Clinton has. During the debate last year when he asked what he'd do if an American city was attacked, and he said he'd check the emergency response system, and the Democrats all pointed out that was a rather naïve and irresponsible way to approach it," he said.
"The Democratic party has nominated … someone that they believe is not ready to be president of the United States," he added.
Of course delegates in Denver think Giuliani should stay in New York and worry about his own party's chances.
"Nobody cares about what the Republicans are doing. Everybody understands that they are so desperate, reaching so far, that they're just off base," said Ruth Hassell Thompson, a Mount Vernon delegate.
Added state Sen. Bill Perkins (D-Harlem): "He's not even a viable pit bull as far as going on the attack is concerned because Rudy Giuliani is really irrelevant."
Perhaps no New Yorker was more of a cheerleader for Obama was Jackie Rowe Adams, a Manhattan delegate.
"Rudy, you need to give it up. You're not going to mess up the party because we are so powerful and strong and after Hillary's speech last night, we can do it! We can do it, we can do it!"
