The New York Senate has voted to immediately expel a senator convicted of misdemeanor assault. The Senate voted 53-8 on Tuesday night to oust Sen. Hiram Monserrate. The Queens Democrat was convicted of dragging his girlfriend through his apartment lobby but acquitted of a felony. A felony conviction would have automatically cost him his job.

With most kids home from school and tons of snow headed our way, CBS 2 HD looks at precautions parents need to take before you let the kids loose. It was a screaming good time Tuesday for the Pato family in Holmdel Park. While mom lost the hat war, Mary Pato was able to get four pairs of socks on her son Jack, and lots of layers. Dr. Michael Markoff said to watch for frostbite on the nose, ears, hands and feet.
