A third alarm fire spewing heavy smoke caused the temporary shutdown of all westbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway Tuesday morning.
Chopper 2 HD was live over the scene as firefighters battled the flames tearing through the two-story commercial building on 27th Street and 50th Avenue just before 6 a.m.
It was the heavy smoke spewing from the fire and across the inbound lanes of the expressway that prompted the shutdown.
Commuters should be advised of possible delays between Van Dam Street and the Queens-Midtown Tunnel.
No injuries were immediately reported.
