 About The Candidates & Issues
NEW YORK (CBS) ― Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton will speak on the second night of the Democratic convention, several media outlets are reporting.

The speaking slot is an indication she will not be Obama's running mate, according to a New York Daily News article published Wednesday .

The article reports that Obama aide, Jennifer Koch, told party leaders that Clinton accepted a prime-time speaking slot.

The convention's second night, a Tuesday, is also 88 years to the day women earned the right to vote.

Koch reportedly said Obama's running mate will likely speak on the first and third nights of the convention, with Obama accepting his party's nomination on the fourth and final night

Meanwhile, an organized effort to persuade Barack Obama to make Clinton his running mate has been shut down.

The two former Clinton staffers who started the group "Vote Both" concede it just isn't likely to happen. They cite his decision to offer Clinton a prime-time speaking role at the upcoming Democratic convention, as well as other indications from those close to both sides.

The Obama campaign still isn't commenting on the selection process.
