Excellent Tools For Outdoor Grilling Experience

by Kirstin Cole
NEW YORK (CBS) ― Outdoor cooking gets a whole lot easier and more fun with the latest in gadgets for your next barbeque.

Basting over a hot and smoky barbeque can be a mess. But leave that behind with the clever bottle-and-brush combo from Pampered Chef for $14. Fill up the bottle, then, screw on the brush.

"The brush is made of silicone which is something we really love. Silicone can take the heat, it's easy to clean and the bristles don't "fry," said Sharon Franke, Food Appliances Director at the Good Housekeeping Institute.

"You can see that I'm giving the bottle a little squeeze and it's dispensing the sauce. And then I can very neatly and easily brush it on my chicken. Picture Perfect," Franke said.

Ever try to boil water on a barbeque? It doesn't work. So here's your answer: The Char-Broil Commercial Series Outdoor Stove for $119.

"This is a burner that really turns your backyard into an outdoor kitchen," Franke said. "It has a burner that's more powerful than one you would typically find on the side shelf of a grill. And it's also very stable. You could put a pot on it and not worry that it could be knocked over."

It's not easy to get a hot grate off the grill when you need to put a smoker basket under there. The Charcoal Companion Grid Lifter grabs any size grate and gets it out of your way. And if you're a late-night griller, here's a light that will guide the way. The LumaTong. A tiny L-E-D spotlights your steaks then easily detaches when it's time to toss in the dishwasher.

Good Housekeeping recommends using a stainless steel grill brush to clean the grill grates. If you use one with a short handle, wait for the grill to cool down before you start scrubbing.

You can find more grill tools that Good Housekeeping recommends on the magazine's Web site, www.goodhousekeeping.com.
