Got A Crying Kid? Stick'em In A Baby Bucket

Parents Going Ga-Ga Over Tummy Tub

MIAMI (CBS) ― Parents will probably consider this one of the coolest creations for babies in decades.

It may look a little strange but it does wonders for soothing a crying infant and babies seem to to love it. When Amelia Wyant's son Jack was born she said she got the strangest baby gift from her sister.

"We get this package at our door, we open it up it's a large clear bucket. We didn't know what to do with it," she told CBS station WFOR-TV in Miami.

Little did she know the bucket would be a Godsend. Designed in Europe, the Tummy Tub looks like your average bucket, but it's used to calm and bathe babies, especially those with colic and gas, by creating a womb-like experience and allowing them to relax in the fetal position.

"You're just kind of dropping him into a bucket and you feel like what am I doing? He loves it. His eyes close he's totally at peace. Then after a while he starts this cooing and he starts humming to himself," explained Wyant.

Unlike a store bought bucket, it's made from environmentally friendly materials and has anti-skid protectors on the bottom. The bucket's manufacturers also claim it keeps water warmer than bath tubs and babies seem to love it.

"From the moment we put him in he's totally calm. He's never cried once in it. My husband was like 'what is this, this is a bucket?' I don't know, but there's some kind of magic in that bucket," Wyant said.

So what's she going to do when Jack is too big to fit inside?

"Maybe they need to come out with a larger bucket," she joked.
