There's a litany of web sites that claim to save shoppers big bucks on goods and services. Type the word coupons into your favorite search engine and more than 90,000,000 hits will pop up. Here are the seven best sites that can save you lots of cash.
ShopSmart Magazine Editor Mandy Walker and her team found the best sites for deals on everything from clothing to groceries and beyond. "If you're doing your holiday shopping, you've got a big list, you can save thousands of dollars," she said.
First up is
Buzzillions.com. From cars to cosmetics, consumers tell you which products to avoid and which to buy. Then go to S
hopItToMe.com. For anything on your wish list, this is the site that watches the sales for you.
"It has to be something that is not a big rush, and they will alert you when it goes on sale," Walker said. Then combine it with a coupon.
RetailMeNot.com gives coupon and promotional codes on virtually everything from virtually every retailer.
"RetailMeNot.com has up to date coupon codes and promotional codes based on codes that have worked for other readers," Walker said. And if you'd like that with a rebate, just check out
Ebates.com. This site is current, as opposed to many sites that have expired offers.
"They have about 900 retailers they work with. When you're done shopping, they will automatically rebate your account. Generally it's 1 percent to 4 percent, but it could be as high as 26 percent," Walker said.
