Report: Beyonce, Jay-Z Marriage Rumors On The Rise

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― Pop star Beyonce Knowles and longtime boyfriend Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter have taken out a marriage license in Scarsdale, N.Y., according to a report on People magazine's Web site.

According to an unnamed source cited by People, the pair obtained a license Tuesday morning. The document is valid for 60 days.

Beyonce, 26, and Jay-Z, 38, have been dating since 2002. The former Destiny's Child singer appeared on Jay-Z's song "'03 Bonnie & Clyde," followed by collaborations on Beyonce's solo hit "Crazy in Love" in 2003.

Beyonce made headlines in February when referring to Tina Turner as "the Queen" at the Grammy Awards, prompting criticism from Aretha Franklin, known as the the Queen of Soul.

Franklin, who also performed at the ceremony, was sitting in the audience: Beyonce did reference her along with other top female singers before introducing Turner.

"I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyonce," Franklin said in a statement issued by her publicist. "However, I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy."

Late last year Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter left his post as president of Universal Music Group's Def Jam Records label after his contract expired in 2007.

The rapper, who was named Def Jam president four years ago, said in a statement that it was "time for me to take on new challenges."

He continues to release his own music through his record label, Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam.
