'Little Mermaid' Actor Injured In Pre-Show Fall

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Authorities said an actor in "The Little Mermaid" has fallen 30 to 40 feet minutes before popular Broadway production was set to begin.

Adrian Bailey, 51, who plays various roles in the musical, broke both his wrists. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center after falling about 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater on West 46th Street.

"The catwalk was left open, it was dark, it wasn't tied off at the time, and he fell between the two catwalks that were folded up," FDNY Battalion Chief Greg Bierster said.

Authorities said he was unconscious with injuries to his leg and arm when he was taken out of the theater.

The audience was already in the theater, but the curtain was down. The show was delayed for about an hour.
