TMZ: Text Led To Fight Between Brown, Rihanna

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― TMZ Wednesday reported that the allegedly violent fight between Chris Brown and Rihanna over the weekend was sparked by a text message.

Brown received a text message from a woman who reportedly wrote about hooking up with him later, law enforcement reportedly confirmed to TMZ.

TMZ also reported that Rihanna could barely open her eyes for police photos because they were nearly swollen shut. The pop star was also said to have suffered a fat lip, swollen mouth, bloody nose and multiple contusions on her face.

Meanwhile, a district attorney's spokeswoman says the Los Angeles Police Department has presented a case regarding Brown, but county prosecutors have asked for further investigation.

Police Sunday booked Brown for investigation of making a criminal threat after Rihanna (Robyn Fenty) accused him of assaulting her the night before the Grammy Awards.

"At the time the case is presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office, additional charges may be filed," police said in a statement.

Brown posted $50,000 bail and was released at 8:35 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.

Both singers were nominated for Grammy Awards and both were scheduled to perform at the show, but neither attended the ceremony.

The fight reportedly occurred in Hancock Park, where Brown stopped a Lamborghini he had rented. The vehicle has since been impounded.
