Robert Redford: Actor, Director, Environmentalist

NEW YORK (CBS) ― New York Times Critic At Large Caryn James interviews Actor-Writer-Producer Robert Redford recently at one of the "Times Talk" sessions. Redford spoke candidly about his latest projects, including bringing the Sundance Film Festival to Brooklyn.

"Creative Latitude: Sundance Institute at BAM" will bring the famed festival from Park City, Utah, to Brooklyn this spring.

The May 11-20 event brings the best of the festival to the Brooklyn Academy of Music, making the films accessible to a whole new audience. A dozen films from the Sundance Festival will be screened in at the BAM, in addition to programs that include script readings, panels, a Sundance theater lab showcase, and an evening of film music.

Redford has used his fame from his wide-ranging roles in films, such as "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "The Way We Were," "The Sting" and "A River Runs Through It," to help advance environmental causes. He established the Sundance Institute for aspiring filmmakers in 1980.

Redford made his directorial debut in the 1980 film "Ordinary People," for which he won the Academy Award for Best Director. His 1994 film "Quiz Show" earned him yet another Best Director nomination.
