Ledger's Funeral Set As Investigation Continues
Police Piece Together Timeline Of Hours Before Actor's Death
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
Two days into the investigation of actor Heath Ledger's sudden death, police have put together a timeline of the events in the hours leading up to the mysterious discovery of his lifeless body.
According to investigators, Ledger's housekeeper arrived at his SoHo apartment on 421 Broome St. at 12:30 on Tuesday.
At 1 p.m., the housekeeper told police she saw Ledger in bed, and reported hearing him snoring.
At 2:45, masseuse Diana Wolozon arrives at the apartment, but says Ledger's bedroom door is closed.
By 3 p.m., Wolozon calls Ledger's cell phone, but he didn't answer.
Ten minutes later, Wolozon says she entered Ledger's bedroom, set up her massage table, approached the unresponsive actor, and shook him. She then called Ledger's friend, actress Mary-Kate Olson in Calfornia, who called private security guards.
Some time after that, Wolozon called Olson again and tells her, "I think he's dead."
Only then, at 3:26 p.m., did Wolozon call 911 and attempt to revive Ledger.
At 3:33, EMS and private security arrived. CPR was administered on Ledger.
At 3:36, Ledger was pronounced dead.
.
Police say there was no note left behind, and it's widely believed that Ledger's death was an apparent accidental overdose of drugs. Six different prescription drugs were found in the apartment including sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medication.
Police also found a rolled-up $20 bill near the body, but testing on the bill revealed no drug residue.
It will be several days before the cause of Ledger's death is finally determined, after an autopsy performed by the medical examiner on Wednesday was ruled inconclusive.
Funeral arrangements for Ledger were also completed on Thursday, a spokesman for the Frank E. Campbell funeral home confirmed. Ledger's body arrived a day earlier at the Upper East Side home, where members of his family are expected to arrive on Friday.
Details of the funeral were to remain private, as requested by his family.
Meanwhile, family members continue to speak out on the tragic death. On Thursday morning, two of Ledger's uncles appeared on CBS' "Early Show" from his native Perth, Australia, and despite reports that Ledger was recently moody or depressed, they remember him as an energetic person who everyone loved being around.
"No family party or gathering really got going until Heath was in the room. It was his vibrance and personality that really got people together," said Haydn Ledger.
"There's fun, loving memories of a fun, loving trickster. He always liked to follow cousins and play tricks on them," added Mike Ledger.
Ledger's family stands behind their belief that the 28-year-old Oscar-nominee would not commit suicide. "It's certainly, as far as we're concerned, a tragic accident and death," Haydn said.
