The Motley Crue, Crew
Motley Crue is hitting the road again -- and they're bringing some friends along for the ride.
The heavy metal band announced the launch of the first-ever Crue Fest on Tuesday. The summer rock festival will feature the four original members of Motley Crue -- singer Vince Neil, bassist Nikki Sixx, guitarist Mick Mars and drummer Tommy Lee -- as well as Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Sixx:A.M. and Trapt.
"We've been wanting to do this forever," Lee told The Associated Press about the festival. "And we're finally doing it."
Produced by Live Nation, Crue Fest will kick off July 1 in West Palm Beach, Fla. The tour will stop in 41 U.S. and Canadian cities.
Known for their bad behavoir and famous girlfriends just as much as they are for hits like "Girls, Girls, Girls" and "Dr. Feelgood," Motley Crue reunited in 2004 and previously toured with Aerosmith in 2006.
"The second we hit the stage, everything is exactly the same," Lee said. "But when the house lights go up these days, everybody leaves and goes back to their hotel room or bus or airplane or whatever. It's different now. People have families and kids."
The band also announced it will release "Saints of Los Angeles," their ninth studio album, on June 17.
Lee told the AP the new album -- the first featuring all four original band members in more than a decade -- is a mix of "old school and new school" Crue.
Caruso's Alleged Stalker On the Lam
Austrian authorities searched Wednesday for a woman who failed to appear for the start of her trial on charges of stalking and threatening to kill "CSI: Miami" star David Caruso.
A judge signed a warrant for the woman's arrest after she failed to show up for Wednesday's trial in the city of Innsbruck, Austrian media reported. The Tiroler Tageszeitung newspaper said her lawyer had reassured authorities last week that she intended to be in court.
The public prosecutor's office in the alpine province of Tyrol said the suspect vanished without a trace and took her laptop with her.
Prosecutors allege the woman sent more than 100 letters to Caruso and pursued the American actor for an autograph. They said Caruso received death threats after refusing to give her the autograph.
In line with Austrian privacy laws, authorities identified the defendant only as a 41-year-old native of Tyrol. She was identified after a joint investigation by the FBI and Austria's Federal Criminal Investigations Bureau.
A 2007 letter allegedly containing the threat bore a Miami postmark and showed up in Caruso's fan mail, Austrian authorities said. They said it read in part: "I will locate you and your ugly Latina tramp and kill you."
The 52-year-old Caruso is the star of the CBS series and plays Miami police Lt. Horatio Caine.
It was unclear whether the Latina reference alluded to actress Alana De La Garza, who played Caruso's TV wife until her character was gunned down by drug dealers.
Because of the location of the trial, Austrian media have dubbed the affair "CSI: Innsbruck."
The Austria Press Agency reported Wednesday that Karin Treichl, a court-appointed psychiatrist, testified that the suspect had been diagnosed with a "profound personality disorder."
Officials said the woman originally had been ordered to appear in court in July 2007, but was outside the country at the time and never showed up, delaying the proceedings until this week.
If convicted, she faces up to three years' imprisonment under Austria's recently toughened anti-stalking law, and the possibility of additional time if charged, tried and convicted on related charges of eluding justice.
Funny-Lady Jenny McCarthy Is Serious About Autism
Actress and mother of an autistic boy, Jenny McCarthy, was the keynote speaker at a "Living with Autism" workshop in Troy, Michigan just outside of Detroit, on April 16.
McCarthy spoke about her struggles and experiences raising her son Evan. She also lashed out against school vaccinations. It's a controversial issue, but like some other parents she makes a link between how autism has increased as shots increased through the years.
Participants made up of mostly parents got a chance to talk with experts in the field during the workshop.
The workshop emphasized awareness, how to diagnose autism and the role of genetics and neurology in autism as well as autistic-like behaviors.
