Amalia Mixologist Whips Up Summer Drinks

NEW YORK (CBS) ―

Amalia Restaurant is a unique space -- a gem-- hidden at 204 W. 55th Street brought to you by Greg Brier, of Aspen and now HighBar fame.  Executive Chef Adam Ross serves "American Cuisine" with a coastal Mediterranean flair."  The baroque environment features chinoiserie wallpaper and black murano glass chandeliers.  Don't miss the dramatic Italian mosaic tile "floating" staircase.  It brings you down to the nightclub D'or.  Did I mention they whip up their own refreshing cocktail recipes?  Here are a couple I sampled.

Au Pear

2 oz.     Grey Goose Poire

1 oz.     Housemade pear-cardamom eau de vie

.5 oz     Chambord

.25 oz   Fresh lime juice

.25 oz. Simple syrup

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass over ice.  Shake vigorously and strain into a martini glass.  Garnish with a pear slice & two kirsch-brandied cherries.

Demeter

3          Large black cherries, halved and pitted

1 oz.     Elderflower cordial

3 oz.     Millers gin

Place cherries and elderflower cordial in a rocks glass.  Muddle well.  Fill glass with ice & top with gin.  Shake vigorously and garnish with an orchid petal.
