Restaurant Group Challenges Calorie Count Display

NEW YORK (AP) ― The New York State Restaurant Association has filed a federal lawsuit challenging the city's regulation requiring the display of calorie counts at fast food chains that operate at least 15 separate outlets.

The regulation is set to go into effect on March 31.

The city Board of Health voted last week to approve a new
version of a law requiring fast food outlets to display calorie counts. A similar version was rejected by a judge in the fall.

The restaurant association argues that the regulation will hinder its industry. It says most fast food chains already provide much of this information through tray liners, posters and Web sites.
