Dining Deals: 'Delicatessen,' An Intl. SoHo Eatery
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
On the Dining Deals menu on Friday there are international dishes, a stylish interior and of course, great prices.
Any notion of what you think a 'delicatessen' is will be forgotten when you walk into this 'Delicatessen,' a new SoHo eatery.
There's a good, busy hustle to this place, says CBS 2's Tony Tantillo, and the constant motion in the kitchen is a reflection of that.
The menu is a combination of comfort foods and eclectic dishes. And befitting its SoHo neighborhood, the place has great style, a sleek modern interior, with an expansive outdoor café.
A great vibe, a busy kitchen, Tantillo was ready to sample.
"This being a delicatessen, I had to start with the traditional pastrami sandwich
from the bread to the meat, it was high quality all the way," said Tantillo.
Sitting down with Head Chef Doron Wong, Tantillo sampled all of their top dishes:
"At Delicatessen we're trying to be international comfort food," said Wong. "Being Chinese, comfort food to me is fish simply done, with a basic soy vinaigrette." He was referring to Delicatessen's salmon entrée.
Another fish dish on the menu is a halibut carpaccio; fresh, simple and delicious with a lemon truffle sauce.
By the look of things, 'Delicatessen' is a winner. Now go check it our yourself!
The new trendy spot is located at 54 Prince Street at Lafayette in SoHo.
