Behind The Velvet Ropes: HighBar

WCBSTV.com brings you to an island oasis inside Manhattan

NEW YORK (CBS) ―

Don't let the shabby speak-easy type door fool you, HighBar (located on 48th and 8th) is this season's trendy and sophisticated roof top bar brought to you by Greg Brier of D'Or, Amalia and Aspen fame.

If you make it past the bouncer, you're taken through a dark hallway to an elevator where you're transported from a dingy hallway into what can only be describe as an oasis in the sky.  In moments, you're taken from the filthy streets of Manhattan into an atmosphere reminiscent of a Hampton's getaway or a visit to St. Tropez.

"Well, we really have a beautiful  western view here, with a great sunset and it's a whole vibe here of great music , great-looking people and a really nice chill vibe." Brier told WCBSTV.com.

Designed by ICrave, it has a modern Miami feel with striped seating, private sections and of course, what would a patio bar be without beds for lounging.  There's even a UFO chair where many celebrities are seated to separate themselves from the crowd.

There's a state-of- the-art sound system and DJ booth, and if you get hungry, no worries.  HighBar offers classics from the grill from hamburgers to grilled cheese, to keep the feel of an upscale barbecue.
