Shape It Up: Fitness On The Road

by Stephanie Oakes
NEW YORK (CBS) ― If you find it difficult to work out on summer vacation, you may want to try bringing the gym on the road. Vacations can be a great time to try a new and different kind of exercise. Fitness Expert Stephanie Oakes shows you some portable fitness products.

One great alternative to tossing free weights in your suitcase is the weighted vest. The vest can provide between five and 30 pounds of resistance and increases in half-pound intervals.

It's great for pushups and lunges and adds resistance to cardio training for anyone who doesn't like picking up weights. At about $130 it's made for men or women.

Another great way to combine resistance and cardio is the weighted jump rope. For between $23 and $30, the weighted jump rope gets your heart rate up but is easier on the joints than jogging.

One more great way to stay toned while you travel are akro weights -- they look like regular weights but have rollers on each end and are great support for ab work and push-ups. You can buy them for about $80.

All of these products and more are available on the Perform Better Web sute or by calling 888-556-7464.
