6 New Cases Of Swine Flu Confirmed In NYC
Total In City Now Jumps To 80; Up To 97 For State

New York state Health Commissioner Richard Daines says New York City has six newly confirmed cases of swine flu, bringing the total there to 80.
Statewide, New York has 97 confirmed cases of swine flu, with the majority traced to St. Francis Preparatory School in Queens. The school reopened Monday after being closed all last week.
More New York City area schools are reopening after closures related to suspected swine flu cases.
P.S. 177 in Queens and Rye Country Day School in Westchester County reopened Wednesday after closing last week.
Officials at Rye Country Day School initially planned to close the school for two weeks beginning Tuesday after two students tested positive for swine flu, but reopened Wednesday at the urging of federal and state health officials.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn says three other schools closed because of suspected swine flu cases reopened on Monday: Bishop Kearney High School, Good Shepherd School and St. Brigid School.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg and City Health Commissioner Thomas Frieden have said the swine flu outbreak that began at St. Francis seems to have leveled off. They've said all patients with the strain have been treated and recovered or should expect to recover just fine.
