Holiday Gift Guide: Hottest Gadgets For Mom

by CNET's Natali Del Conte
NEW YORK (CBS) ― You might not think of your mom as being tech savvy, but if you get her a cool gadget this holiday season, she'll probably figure out how to use it, especially if it allows her to take pictures and video of her favorite person in the world: you.

We¹ve picked out a few of our favorite gadgets this year that we think the mom in your life will appreciate.
For starters, we've got the Samsung YouTube-friendly Digicam. This is a pretty affordable camcorder made to work specifically for uploading videos to YouTube. You can find it online for under $200 and it is also quite light and compact.

Any woman with a car full of kids will appreciate the Garmin Nuvi 880 GPS with Voice Command. This is the top of the line GPS system. It is a CNET editors' choice because the turn-by-turn navigation is more accurate than any other system we've tested. It also has really precise speech recognition and works as a book reader and media player when you¹re not using it for directions.

The Pandigital Touchscreen Photo Frame was the first digital photo frame to use touch technology to navigate the menu. Thankfully the touch functions are on the side of the frame so you don¹t get fingerprints all over the screen. It can also play music and video, although the speakers really aren't all that great so you¹ll hardly use it as your main music system.

The Samsung Camera TL34HD has a 14.7 megapixel lens, which is one of the higher resolutions we¹ve seen this year. It also shoots high-def video at 720p and you can also get a docking station to play your photos or videos on your HDTV. I found it for about $180 on Amazon, which is a good deal for such a high-performing camera.

My co-worker at CNET has a little boy and she swears by the Sony DVP-FX820 Portable DVD Player. She says that it is essential for a road trip because you can just hand your kids the device and they stay out of trouble for the duration of the ride. This one is about $180, has a 180-degree swivel screen, and weighs less than 3 pounds.

Netbooks are all the rage this year. These are the small and cheap laptops that are made to surf and browse on the go. I like these because they fit in your purse. The Lenovo IdeaPad S10 costs about $400, weighs less than 2 pounds and runs windows.
