Capt. Sully is an inspiration for all Americans. He is just what we need to boost our morale during these hard times. God bless our new true American Hero.
-Tony Santana, Sayville, NY
Captain Sully - you are a true American Hero. Certainly everything that you had ever done in your life and career and training had so prepared you for that one moment in time and for whatever reasons, you all survived. Certainly have to think what to happen from someone or many - great things. It is truly a feel good story!
-Donna Spiegel, Nyack, NY
You were born and trained to be where you were that day. As you know we need good news in New York and you gave us that. Thank you and your crew, God bless all of you.
-Judy Nelson, NYC
Thank God the pasengers had Capt. Sullenberger as their pilot. A fighter pilot, no less! What a great man! I work not far from where he landed. I will never forget it. God Bless!
-Mary Serkanic, NYC
Dear Captain Sullenberger -
I was returning to my home in Fort Lee, NJ, just a few blocks from the GWB, on Thursday, January 15th, and I thought I was hallucinating when I saw a jet so low over the bridge. I waited in dread to hear a boom and to see a fireball, but neither came. It wasn't until I turned on the TV a few minutes later that I knew what had happened. The outcome of this event was nothing short of incredible! The fact that you are such a humble man is also awe-inspiring. If the world ever needed a truly wonderful hero, you are that person! Kudos also to the flight crew and all of the rescuers in NYC and NJ. Your name is now emblazoned on the 'Most Remarkable People Who Ever Lived' wall of history!! Sincerely, Michael Sklar
-Michael Sklar, Fort Lee, NYC
Sully, you are amazing. God bless you and your crew. I know that God had his angels surrounding you on that cold day. He is so wonderful truly. God bless you again and again. Stay safe, Sandy.
-Sandy, NYC
To: Mr Sully, your family and, all the people that were in the airplane 'God bless you.'
-Mily Moresete, Yonkers, NY
We know you did your job, but in the end, you saved lives and forever changed those involved. Congratulations and you are a true hero.
-Sam & Patti Costanzo, Poughkeepsie, NY
As a fellow international flight attendant, may I also give kudos to the entire crew for a job well done! It is so reassuring to see how well your training kicked in and how it actually worked!! I'm actually looking forward to EPTs/RDTs this year to learn more about your brilliant incident! Hope to see y'all back on the line soon.
-Denise Sedgwick, Westport, CT
Sully you are my hero. When ever I see you being interviewed I can't believe how calm you are and you were during the most awesome event that has happened in my life time. The passengers on your plane were so lucky they had you a seasoned pilot at the helm. This is a good lesson in life. You can't replace people with experience. The crew like no other should also be praised for the admorable job they performed that historic day. Nothing ever happened like this in history. Everyone involved should get the utmost praise in there efforts that day. God Bless everyone.
-Arthur Sarzen Sr., Highland Park, NJ
What a hero you are. I just love hero-stories. I now have a new person to love in my life. Congrats to you. NYC hails you - thank you so much for preventing a disaster.
-Gail, Saugerties, NY
AN ODE TO CAPTAIN SULLY: Dear Captain Sully You are anything, but DULLY (?) You were so very humble The way you did not crumble In the eye of a major disaster You truly were the master. No need to stay awake at night. Believe me, YOU DID EVERYTHING RIGHT. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR WONDERFUL CREW!!!
-Marilyn Chaiken, Brooklyn, NY
I would like to thank you for your courage at that time, and confidence in yourself. And also I know the Lord is with you. God bless. you.
-Noel Ann La Porte, Port Jervis, NY
With all the hardships going on these days I want to thank Captain Sully and crew for bringing a cheer to our world! I am a US Airways employee and couldn't be more proud! Please Mayor Bloomberg, this crew deserves to go down the canyon of heroes!
-Rick, Jamaica, NY
You are America's Heroes. Thank you! I can only hope that your actions bring back into focus the amount of professionalism and training that is needed to do your jobs. Perhaps Americans will now treat their flight crews with the respect they deserve.
-Cathy, Bellmore, NY
I do not have a respect for so called celebrities that the media are full of in those days. I have always said that my heroes are simple people that do extraordinary things. Like doctors for instance that save lives every day. Cpt 'Sully' is not an ordinary man of course. He is a PILOT. A damn good one. For a man like him I have a deep respect. You can see wisdom in his eyes. God bless him and his family. That goes for his crew as well.
-Lubomir Firko, NYC
To Sully and the entire crew-bravo-amazing job you all did. I am a flight attendant for American Airlines. The other day someone asked what I thought Sully's first reaction was to your situation and I knew even before watching your interview on '60 Minutes.' I had the experience of being hijacked and the hostage on board one of my flights. and the first reaction is disbelief, then you go into the mode of getting the job done. You all did a wonderful job and put all of our training into play. One last note: it was brought to my attention that everyone involved that day was a union member. Pilots, flight attendants, air traffic controllers, rescuers! amazing!
-Regina Keiser, Massapequa, NY
Hey Sully, Next time you want to tour the Hudson, try the Circle Line....much more comfortable. You and your crew are Number 1.
-Robert Nolan, Selden, NY
I know Sully does not want accolades - but, we need a hero - a selfless person instead of the bankers and politicians who do not pay taxes- so he should let us have him as a hero and remind us of the type of American we all should be.
-Virginia Ellison, Woodbury, NY
Dear Captain Sully: I have always been petrified of flying, but after seeing your fast thinking heroic actions you have restored my faith in the pilots, although I think you're one in a million. I truly believe that only you could have landed that plane safely. You are and always will be my hero. God bless you and your family. Sincerely Carol King
-Carol King, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ
Thank God for you and your crew. You truley had God as your co-pilot. Also all the brave passengers and all the 1st responders. God Bless.
-Diane Diliberti, Manalapan, NJ
A true hero for our time. An ordinary man doing an extraordinary feat. Makes us believe that there could be a hero in all of us. What a wonderful example for our children.
-Ella Centers, Middletown, NY
All I can say is 'Great Job' !!!. Glad you're still with us. My daughter's Grandfather, Leo Sarter, was a pilot for Pan Am, so we all know the great job that you did. Kudos to you.
-Barbara Leth, Coldenham, NY
I am elite level on 2 major airlines,US Airways not being one of them. I am however going to give US Airways some of my business. I wonder if another pilot with the same problem, would have had the same result. You are the type of Pilot I want flying aircrafts that Im flying in. I can also tell you that I was in Australia when this happened, and you are a hero to The Australians also. Good job
-Larry Schwarz, Salt Lake City, UT
I want to say people come into your life for a reason season or lifetime and you were there to bring these people home safe placed by God and we all thank you.
-Helene Lip, Bayside, NY
Sully, Great job. My company makes part of the Ram Air Turbine Actuator (RAT). Did it deploy? If so how did it function? Was the APU used also?
-Sandy Brown, Bohemia, NY
Miracle #1: I marvel at the good timing of the sequence of events -- that Captain Sullenberger had the presence of mind to plot his course with such limited time to bring the jet to a safe place. Miracle #2: The fact that there was no obstruction in the water in the path of the jet, the fact that there was daylight and finally that there were ferries and other vessels immediately available to come to the aid of the passengers (and 'Sully.') This is a wonderful human being!!!
-Mary Ann Berrigan, Toms River, NJ
