The man behind bars for the murder of John Jay College graduate student Imette St. Guillen says he was framed.
Darryl Littlejohn's attorney filed a 36-page legal brief alleging a bizarre conspiracy against him.
The motion filed by Littlejohn's attorney Joyce David reads like an episode of "The Sopranos," involving a mob family and even presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani.
Part of the briefing reads: It's "obvious that Mr. Littlejohn was being framed to protect a member of the Dorrian clan or someone close to them."
"The reports were that my client had a whole week to hide evidence," David said. "The truth of the matter is the Dorrians had a week to hide evidence."
Back on Feb. 25, 2006, St. Guillen went to "The Falls" bar in SoHo just before 3 a.m. Sixteen hours later, her nude and battered body was found in a desolate section of East New York. She had been raped, then suffocated.
Police arrested Littlejohn who was the bouncer at the bar.
Days later, Littlejohn gave CBS 2 HD an exclusive interview.
"They have the wrong person," he said. "I'm a likely suspect because I have a criminal background."
When asked if he killed St. Guillen, Littlejohn said, "No, I did not."
Also named in the conspiracy is Rudy Giuliani. The former mayor's close friend and aide, Anthony Carbonetti, married into the Dorrian family. David's briefing states, "Dorrians are part of Rudolph Giuliani's family."
David says Giuliani didn't want another scandal as he announced his run for president.
CBS 2 HD tried to get a comment from both the Dorrian family and Giuliani but was told these accusations are so outlandish they don't deserve a response.
"Giuliani is going to ridicule it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have merit," David said.
The attorney went on to say she believes the evidence against Littlejohn is sketchy at best, and she wants the public to be aware of all the details of the case.
The trial is still more than a year away.
