Digital Account Executive

The Digital Media Department at WCBS-TV is seeking a qualified digital account executive for wcbstv.com, the fastest-growing local TV news Web site in America's largest media market, and for the station's other digital delivery platforms.
Reporting to the Director of Digital Media, Digital Account Executives are responsible for coordinating and executing a comprehensive online advertising sales strategy to support individual digital sales goals. This individual's primary responsibility is to work with the local advertising clients and agencies as well as third party ad sales representatives to generate ad revenue for the WCBS-TV digital properties. This person will also need to work in close coordination with television ad sales, strategic sales, marketing, editorial and Web site operations, plus have a working understanding of new ad product development, sales development, promotions and event marketing.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the digital advertising sales on WCBS-TV's digital properties. This individual will implement the strategy to execution including development plans, ad specs and rate card pricing.
- Must understand how to identify a client's needs and develop a solution that meets their marketing objectives.
- Develop online platforms for key clients on wcbstv.com.
- Responsible for creating and supporting integrated online/TV sales strategies.
- Initiate significant digital ad sales leads via advertisers and ad agencies
- Generate new and unique local ad sales opportunities for wcbstv.com
- Develop strong working relationship with WCBS-TV management and corporate ad sales teams in order to create integrated programs and maximize overall revenue impact
- Develop strong working relationship with in-house research team and CBS Television Stations research team in order to keep sales research materials up to date and consistent with the sales priorities and needs
- Provide ongoing input to the Director of Digital Media, television ad sales, strategic sales, marketing, WCBS-TV management and CBS Television Stations Digital Media management related to online ad sales trends, new revenue-generating products and online advertising industry trends
Qualifications:
- Highly collaborative team player

- Current competitive knowledge of where clients are spending, how much and when they're spending
- Hands-on sales professional with a proven and consistent track record of extraordinary success

- Ability to work collaboratively with marketing team, ad sales operations, editorial and other cross functional groups

- Willing to travel (approximately 10%-20%)
- Highly adept at Power Point, Excel and other relevant sales reporting and communication tools
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years in advertising sales, including at least 1 years digital advertising in New York.
- Experience writing, developing and presenting engaging customized sales presentations
- Experience packaging, pricing, negotiating and seeing the program through successful execution
- Experience working with multiple sales teams and developing unique advertising sales programs
- Experience understanding and analyzing online and television research, and can integrate syndicated research and in-house proprietary research into sales proposals

Digital Media Producer, Advertising + Special Projects
POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Digital Media Department at WCBS-TV is looking for a qualified full-time Web designer to work on wcbstv.com, the fastest-growing local TV news Web site in America's largest market, and the station's other digital delivery platforms. The Digital Media Producer, Advertising + Special Projects leads all creative-based advertising efforts and special projects for wcbstv.com, focused primarily on Flash development and Web graphic design. The Digital Media Producer, Advertising + Special Projects must have a keen understanding for the basics of Web journalism while maintaining a contemporary, extensive and diverse portfolio.
Working with the Director, Digital Media, and the station's digital and broadcast account executives, the Digital Media Producer, Advertising + Special Projects will be called on to create engaging, interactive experiences. These experiences must fulfill advertisers' needs, as well as help build audience, increase time spent on site and raise the bar in terms of online interactivity. The Digital Media Producer, Advertising + Special Projects also may be called on to support wcbstv.com editorial operations, as necessary.
Applicants for this position MUST include links to their online portfolio of Flash work that illustrates their accomplishments as they relate to the requirements and responsibilities of this position. Our industry is fast-paced and this position especially requires a mindset conducive to that environment; those looking for long lead times for design and development need not apply.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
-- Expert-level Flash design experience with basic understanding of hand-coding the ActionScript language

-- Ability to hand-code HTML, DHTML, CSS

News Operations/Media Manager
WCBS-TV seeks a dynamic, energetic, self-motivated and experienced News Operations/Media Manager to oversee our news editing operation. Qualified candidates will have three to five years of managerial or supervisory editing experience and be well versed in non-linear edit workflow to facilitate our transition from a Panasonic / AVID to BitCentral's Precis platform with Edius and Final Cut Pro editing software.
Duties include managing day-today news editing functions, including scheduling within the confines of the department budget, prioritizing workload, coordinating the recording of feeds from bureaus and ENG/SNG remotes; playback and microwave/satellite receive operations and coordinate and oversee staff training and procedure development. Coordinate and implement standard operating procedures. Create daily feedback reports for news, engineering & operations and maintenance when necessary.
Knowledge of Standard and High Definition ENG & DSNG as well as the technical infrastructure and its related equipment is a must as well as a complete understanding of news production processes.
The ideal candidate should posses a dynamic skill set in facilitating, organizing, communicating and follow-up skills and be able to take direction from executive producers, assignment managers, and writers and show producers and facilitate their requirements to assure all material is completed on-time for air. The News Operations/Media Manager must follow direction well, perform and make decisions under extreme pressure and posses the ability to stay calm in a fast paced, stressful environment.
Previous experience in a union environment is a plus but not required.

Account Manager, Business Development
WCBS Marketing Solutions Department
The Marketing Solutions group is an internal strategic sales and marketing group within WCBS-TV, whose goal is to generate media dollars from Fortune 500 advertisers. The revenue is incremental to WCBS-TV.
Job Overview
The right candidate is someone who thrives on being an original thinker and is not afraid to challenge the system with new ideas. You must understand how to close big deals with multiple components and work with a range of personalities both on a corporate level and on a station level. Knowledge of digital content and its role in shaping and complementing broadcast ideas is a necessity. Ability to multi-task projects and clients at various stages of a deal is crucial. A developed rolodex and solid relationships with agency planners and clients is required.

Scope of the Position
The Account Manager, Business Development has multiple roles:
1) Management of client-direct interaction and business development in New York Region. Involves development of presentations and creative concepts to present to clients as well as securing meetings and building/ maintaining relationships with the clients who currently are not buying television. Account Manager, Business Development will be seen as an ambassador for the CBS Brand and will be charged with elevating the status of meetings with new clients while engaging clients at the earliest stages of their planning process, annually and on-going, to ensure that WCBS and WCBSTV.com receives every single consideration. Ultimate Goal is to bring new advertisers to the medium.
2) Solidifying positioning of WCBS-TV Business Development division with direct clients and non-traditional agencies. While client-direct is the goal, it is imperative for the Account Manager, Business Development to work closely with all non-traditional agencies to ensure their support of our strategy to grow the business development category, their business and ultimately the business of WCBS Television. The Business Development clients and agencies must feel like partners in our initiatives and vice-versa.
3) Develop strong internal relationships with management and key account executives. Requires understanding the structure of how the television station, the clients and the agencies are managed and working closely with the WCBS Managers to communicate business development opportunities, strategies and to ultimately implement programs. Involves development of strategies, joint meetings and team work. Sales team and management interaction is integral to the success.
4) Continuous work on developmental business opportunities including selling all assets within the WCBS arsenal. This Account Manager should be well versed and comfortable in selling all of the WCBS assets which include on-air, online, local events and specials and network events and specials.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of this role are:
1) Ability to prospect, close and grow new accounts and developmental business clients for WCBS and WCBSTV.com. Sell special projects and develop fully integrated client proposals.
2) Close teamwork with the other business development account managers, Digital Sales Director, transactional sales team and the entire WCBS Marketing Department. This includes working closely on pricing, overall deal negotiating, implementation of programs and oversight of all steps to a successful campaign.
3) Working closely with Senior Management to determine key prospects, goals and strategies.
Requirements:
At least 6 to 8 years of proven ability to sell marketing ideas within an organization or business
Competitive, aggressive and highly motivated sales professional with Business Development sales experience
Media sales (TV, print, cable, radio) experience a plus, but not mandatory
Agency and/or Client media planning/strategy experience desired
Dynamic presence, stellar written and presentation skills a must
Must be tech savvy (including a familiarity with sales tools, excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office)
