Mourning Brooklyn Church Prays For Injured Pastor

NEW YORK (CBS) ― The Brooklyn congregation led by gospel singer Timothy Wright is praying for his recovery after a head-on car crash.

Church members at Grace Tabernacle Christian Center raised their voices in praise and remembrance Sunday following the crash, which killed Wright's co-pastor and wife, Betty Wright, who was also her husband's travel companion on trips, including this final one. Their marriage was admired by all, including Rep. Edolphus Towns (D) Brooklyn.

"They were a model couple - we regret we've lost her," he said.

Their 14-year-old grandson D.J. Wright was also killed.

"We pray that God brings him through for us - we need him in our community," said Royston Antoine.

Forty-four-year-old Lewisburg, Pa., resident John Pick also died when he drove the wrong way on Interstate 80 and struck the Wrights' vehicle.

The 61-year-old Rev. Wright remains in critical condition following the crash late Friday in Pennsylvania.

Members of his congregation have gathered to lend each other support. In the midst of the tragedy, they say they're still praising God.
