With prices rising for everything from gas to groceries, people are looking for any kind of relief, and many are finding that relief with coupons.
Alyson Miller is crazy for coupons. "I clip the coupons at night, after the kids go to sleep," she said. The stay-at-home mother of two is always looking for ways to save.
"Diapers are really expensive. I signed up for huggies online and every month they send me a little booklet of coupons," Miller said.
And all that clipping and printing is paying off.
"I save between $25 and $30 every shopping trip," beamed Miller.
"Never pay retail," advises Sarah Gardner, of
fashionupdate.com.
The 'coupon guru' Gardner said retailers are more willing than ever to offer deals. "We're talking about saving 10 to 30 percent," she said.
At sites like
valpak.com, plug in your zip code and a list of stores in your area pop up with printable coupons. CBS 2 HD found one NYC children's store that even offered to pay for cab fare.
If you want to make sure you're getting the best deal, "go to
pricegrabber.com, do the comparison shopping," said Gardner.
Type in the product name to retrieve a list of prices, starting with the best. Once you've found the best price, you can search for even more savings. Just enter the name of the store on sites like
current codes and
coupon craze - that provide discount codes.
Some sites will e-mail coupons you can print. "There's a couple of websites that I signed up for that automatically send me coupons," Miller said.
Before taking her coupons to the store, she logs on to
wcbstv.com/gasprices to find the cheapest place to fill-up in her area.
"Every little bit helps," said Miller. Especially when you're trying to make every dollar go further.
