Harlem Teen Gunned Down, Family Wants Answers
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
The family of a Harlem teenager gunned down on a street corner early Sunday morning is inconsolable, but through their grief they are demanding answers.
At this time, it is unclear who shot 15-year-old Nathan Allsbrooks on 126th St. and 7th Ave. or if the bullet was meant for someone else.
Allsbrooks, who went by the name 'Na-nate,' was going to be a sophomore in high school when he was gunned down in the street early Sunday.
"The guy was like right inside that little park. They shot him and got in the car, they stopped, they saw the body and got back inside the car and drove off," a witness told CBS 2 HD.
Allsbrooks' father, also named Nathan, doesn't know why his young son was shot but says the fatal chain of events began with some sort of argument.
"One of his friends got into an argument with somebody and then they came back and started shooting," he said.
According to his father, Nathan was walking home with his friends when he was shot and killed by a bullet that wasn't even intended for him.
Police are still conducting their investigation and believe Allsbrooks might have been killed by a stray bullet.
Allsbrooks is the third teenager to be killed in the city since Wednesday, when a 15-year-old girl was stabbed to death in Queens following a dispute at a bus stop.
Police are still searching for the gunman who fatally shot a 17-year-old boy early Saturday morning in Brooklyn.
