Suffolk County police say a 6-year-old boy was hit by a car this afternoon after he stepped out from behind an ice cream truck on his street.
Javier Reyes has been airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center with serious injuries. Witnesses said he was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Dunton Avenue in East Patchogue. The flashing lights on the ice cream truck were working at the time of the accident, police say.
