Police say a girlfriend with a grudge may be behind a deadly fire in Queens that broke out in a Middle Village apartment building on Sunday.
Four people were killed in the Father's Day fire that now appears to have targeted William Salazar. Police believe Agnes Bermudez, his girlfriend, doused him with carpet cleaner - a highly flammable substance, and then lit him on fire.
The blaze killed the 32-year-old Salazar, and a family of three that lived in the same building. Bermudez herself was badly burned and is still hospitalized in critical condition.
Salazar's best friends came to a Queens funeral parlor to make arrangements for his funeral, which will be held Saturday morning. They say Salazar was a hard worker and good man. He worked for many years for a carpet cleaning company.
His friends say his girlfriend has always seemed nice, and can't believe she would start the fire on purpose."
No one has been charged in this case yet as police continue their investigation.
