A Long Island man accused of stabbing a man sitting in a car at a gas station has surrendered to police.
Nassau County police say Paul DeFilippis, of North Massapequa, is charged with attempted murder in the Sunday incident in North Massapequa. He surrendered on Wednesday.
Police say the victim was punched in the head and face, and then stabbed numerous times with a knife around the torso, face, neck and legs as he tried to flee.
After the victim jumped into nearby bushes, police say DeFilippis got into a car and drove away.
He is charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He is awaiting arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday. His lawyer could not immediately be reached for comment.
