A.C. Casino Revenues Up After Long Losing Streak

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) ― A long losing streak is finally over for Atlantic City casinos.

February revenues reported Monday by the state Casino Control Commission increased by 1.5 percent from the same month a year ago.

That broke a streak of 10 months in which the resort's gambling halls took in less than they did a year ago.

But Atlantic City may owe much of the gain to a simple fluke of the calendar: there was an extra day this February due to the leap year.

Atlantic City has been struggling since out-of-state slots parlors opened in the Philadelphia area in December 2006, siphoning off many of New Jersey's most profitable customers.
