A federal judge has barred Mayor Michael Bloomberg from testifying in New York City's lawsuit against a Georgia gun dealer.
U.S. District Judge Jack Weinstein told city lawyers Thursday that he didn't want a "media show" at an upcoming trial in Brooklyn.
The judge says he doesn't see a reason to have the mayor appear in court.
The city sued more than two dozen gun shops in 2006, accusing them of selling weapons to so-called straw buyers who peddled them to criminals.
Most of the shops settled by agreeing to track sales more closely. But Adventure Sports of Smyrna, Ga., rejected the deal and chose to go to trial.
