Long List Of Don'ts For Bon Jovi Central Park Show
Chairs, Backpacks, Coolers & Booze Among Banned Items
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
The hottest ticket in town this weekend is actually for a free concert.
Bon Jovi's "Lost Highway" tour is ending in style. The New Jersey rock legends will be rocking Central Park in front of 60,000 people on the Great Lawn.
The concert is part of the celebrations leading up to Tuesday's Major League Baseball All-Star game at Yankee Stadium.
But fans hoping to throw a picnic on the Lawn before the show are in for a big surprise.
It's a rare outdoor concert in the heart of Central Park. And while the stage is being set up, warnings are going up about what fans attending the show can and cannot bring into the Park.
Fans are being told not to bring chairs, large bags or backpacks, umbrellas and strollers. Other items that will not be allowed onto the Great Lawn include: cameras, coolers, glass or metal containers and alcohol.
Even water will be tough. Fans will be able to carry in plastic bottles, but if they need more they'll have to buy it there.
"I bet they'll charge you a lot for water there," said Todd Loflin of Oklahoma City.
And with temperatures expected to be near 90 degrees, it could be a long hot day for many.
"What they should bring is plenty of sunscreen because it's going to be warm outside and water as long as it's in a plastic bottle," an official said.
Fans are already worried.
"With the heat out here like this, and you can't move, it would be a little bit tough," said Jordan Jhabvala of Manhattan.
But vendors who make their living in the Park believe they'll have a nice day.
"Tomorrow's going to be a lot of business, everybody coming," one vendor told CBS 2 HD. "If everything sell it's nice, ice cream, water, hot dogs, especially in New York."
Gates to the Great Lawn will open at 2 p.m. Ticket holders will have to enter on 72nd Street, at either Central Park West or Fifth Avenue.
Concert organizers expect some eager fans to begin lining up as early as 6 a.m.
Fans with tickets are being urged to take the subway to 59th Street because the lines to get into the Park will form at 72nd Street and go south.
