Vigil For Bronx Girl Swept Away In Niagara River

12-Year-Old Magdalena Lubowska Swept Away By Fast Moving Waters After Slipping Off Rock On Church Retreat

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) ― The parents of a Bronx girl who was swept away in the Niagara River are planning to hold a candlelight vigil near the spot where she disappeared.

The parents of 12-year-old Magdalena Lubowska will gather in Whirlpool State Park in Niagara Falls Wednesday night to pray and to mourn.

Magdalena was on a summer camp hike Thursday when she slipped off a rock, fell into the river and was dragged away in rushing waters. Her body has still not been found.

The girl's parents are originally from Poland and have called for a criminal investigation.
