Brooklyn Man's Mission: Eat Slice From Every Pizzeria In All Five Boroughs
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
A Brooklyn man is on a mission to eat a slice of pizza from every pizzeria in New York City.
He has his work cut out for him. There are thousands of pizza joints throughout the city's five boroughs.
So far, the 26-year-old, who gives only his first name, Colin, has eaten at about 40 pizzerias.
He expects it'll take him several years to finish his culinary quest.
He started in August, using Google maps to locate the eateries. He spends one day a week visiting six to nine pizzerias in 12 hours or less. He carries a notebook and a camera phone, and blogs about his findings.
Colin's blog, sliceharvester.blogspot.com, is a running account of his experiences. In a September 11, 2009 post, Colin wrote of a New York City pizzeria,
"Seriously, so good looking. Generally on pizza missions we share slices, in order to maximize the number of pizzerias we can hit in one day, but truth be told, I wanted this slice all to myself, so I told everyone, "listen, if we're all gonna get our own slice anywhere, this just might be the place."
He's reached some preliminary conclusions. For one thing, "there's a lot of mediocre pizza in New York."
