Police Set Sights On Suspect In Bronx Rooftop Case

Boyfriend Shadron Rambert Charged With Violating Order Of Protection, Burglary & Criminal Contempt

BRONX (CBS) ― The boyfriend of a woman whose dismembered remains were found on a Bronx rooftop this week has been charged with violating an order of protection, burglary and criminal contempt.

Manuella Paulemont was reported missing on Monday. Yesterday police said her remains were found on the roof of the building where she lived. The medical examiner's office has ruled the woman's death a homicide. Authorities say she died from a slash wound to the neck.

To the people who knew Manuella Paulemont, it was no surprise that her life came to a violent end. Some are suspecting her boyfriend with a violent past, Shadron Rambert, may have had a role to play in her gruesome murder.

Sources told CBS 2 HD that when police found the woman's burned body on the roof, there was no attempt to conceal it and that the arms and legs of the victim had been cut off and removed from the scene.

So far, the limbs have not been recovered by crime scene technicians. The grisly murder has sent a chill throughout the Bronx neighborhood.

Now, police are talking to her boyfriend, who has a history of violence.

"She was the nicest person," one neighbor said.

For two and half years, the couple lived in a building on East 175th street, and police were called several times because of domestic issues.

Wednesday night, when police found the 29-year-old woman's charred and dismembered body on the rooftop of her new address on Marion Avenue, local residents were saddened by the tragedy.

"He promised her the world – he always had her mesmerized," the neighbor said. "He could talk her into anything.

"We always said, you'd better watch out. He's not wrapped too tight."

According to court records Rambert was arrested and charged with assault, menacing and harassment last July. That same month, the Paulemont got a court order of protection against her boyfriend.

This week, Paulemont had been missing for three days. Her family went to the apartment she moved to after separating from Rambert, where they found blood and called police. That's when the grisly discovery was made on the rooftop.

Her newer neighbors remember a fearful woman devoted to her son.

(Marilyn Turner, neighbor: "We see her in the neighborhood – she would always be crying," neighbor Marilyn Turner said. "She was afraid of [Rambert], she'd stay away all day if she thought he was in the neighborhood."

As the victim's family copes with how this woman's life ended, a source told CBS 2 HD her boyfriend is in custody, being questioned by police.

Police have not said how the woman was killed. They are waiting for autopsy results to determine a cause of death.

CBS 2's Magee Hickey contributed to this report.
