Aides to U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney say her husband has died on a mountain climbing expedition in the Himalayas.
Clifton Maloney was 71. The millionaire investment banker was an avid climber.
Congressional aide Barry Nolan says Maloney was resting in a high-altitude camp after a successful ascent to the summit of the world's sixth highest mountain when he died.
The family was informed early Saturday.
Arrangements were still being made to recover the body from the slopes of Cho Oyu, a 26,906-foot peak straddling the border of Nepal and Tibet.
Nolan said Rep. Maloney was "very shaken" by the death.
