British quartet Coldplay announced Monday plans to perform a free show at Madison Square Garden here in Manhattan on June 23.
The world's most famous arena will be playing host to one of the world's most popular rock bands in June, and concert-goers will be charged the world's most popular price for tickets: zilch.
British quartet Coldplay announced Monday plans to perform a free show at Madison Square Garden here in Manhattan on June 23, one of two free concerts to promote the release of their new studio album, "Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends."
It's not yet known how tickets will be distributed. Interested fans have been instructed to check the band's Web site, Coldplay.com for more information in the coming days.
The group will also play for free in London at the Brixton Academy on June 16.
For those who aren't fortunate enough to land tickets, Coldplay's new single "Violet Hill" will be released as free download on Tuesday for one week only on the Web site.
The new album, the band's fourth, will be released in the U.S. and Canada on June 17. Fans in the UK will get the first listen, however, as it will be released there on June 12.
