Mutilated Body Put Out With Trash In The Bronx
NYPD: Male Victim, 22, Had Multiple Stab Wounds To Head, Neck;
Neighbor: Body Chopped Up In Plastic Bag
BRONX (CBS) ―
Police were searching for a killer Monday night after making a shocking find in the Bronx.
A building superintendent found a body stuffed in a plastic bag. He had been stabbed to death. It appears he was put out with the garbage.
The victim had multiple stab wounds to his neck and head. He has been identified as 22-year-old John Hopkins Drago.
The tragic discovery was made in an alleyway on Barnes Avenue in the Bronx. The building superintendent spotted the suspicious garbage bag and called police.
"They found the body in a shopping cart, chopped up, right here in the back of this building," neighbor Arthur Alston said.
The victim lived with relatives a few miles away. A neighbor said she saw him on Saturday. The body was discovered the next day and on Monday night his death was ruled a homicide.
At this point, the NYPD has no suspects and no motive.
"The horrible thing is we are two days away from Christmas, a whole new year
Now the family has to deal with this," Alston said.
Police are asking anyone who may know anything about this horrific crime to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
