New Archbishop Earns Thunderous Applause After Speaking Of New York's Passion For Life Following 9/11

It was an emotional Wednesday that millions in the tri-state area will never forget.
As the mass ended, a jubilant Archbishop Timothy Dolan stepped down from the altar smiling and waving to the people of his new city.
Ordinary people packed St. Patrick's Cathedral for a spiritual experience that comes few times -- if ever -- in a lifetime.
Led by a procession of priests bishops and cardinals form around the world Archbishop Dolan entered his new home.
There was thunderous applause inside the cathedral, followed by the formal installation.
During his first mass as archbishop Dolan spoke of the bravery of New Yorkers, especially in times of tragedy.
"Seven and a half years ago on Sept. 11, 2001, New Yorkers gave a lesson of generous courage to the world," Dolan said. "You did us all proud."
Thousands gave him a standing ovation. Even the governor rose when he discussed the sanctity of life.
He also referenced New York's past.
"Conscious are we of former Mayor Koch's observation that the Catholic Church is the glue that keeps the city together," Dolan said.
Throughout he showed he will lead with wisdom and wit.
"I'm so glad my mom is here, especially since there is a sale at Macy's," Dolan said.
