Yonkers Drug Bust Yields 52 Arrests

YONKERS (CBS) ― A major drug bust in Yonkers has brought charges against 52 people, CBS 2 has learned. More than 30 suspects are in police custody, while warrants have been issued for the remaining suspects in question.

Several of the alleged dealers are said to be homeless men. Police say the suspects sold marijuana, cocaine, heroin and prescription pills to undercover officers.

"A case like this is an example of the scope and the impact of drug dealing in our neighborhoods. Sale and purchases of narcotics is not a victimless crime," said Yonkers Police Commissioner Edmund Hartnett.

Yonkers police say this was the third round of an ongoing drug sweep that has resulted in 200 arrests in the last year.
