She is accused of being drunk with a carload of kids. And on Tuesday night CBS 2 HD learned this isn't the first time.
Susan Rogge was in jail Tuesday after police said her blood-alcohol level was way over the legal limit. Her trapped and terrified daughter called 9-1-1 from inside the car.
The 13-year-old girl was at a fair over the weekend with four friends. Mom was apparently in the parking lot drinking beer in the car -- a big problem since mom was the ride home. Moments after they left the daughter turned the mother in for DWI.
In court Tuesday night, Rogge, 46, appeared in dark sunglasses and wanted nothing to do with the media. She's charged with drunk driving after her vehicle with five teenagers inside ran off a winding two-lane road in Carmel.
As it happened, her daughter dialed 9-1-1 on her cell phone seemingly terrified according to the prosecutor.
"Mommy's drunk." she told the operator. "We almost crashed."
The cops said they were lucky they didn't.
"The vehicle was on the oncoming lane, in the opposite direction that it should be," Carmel Police Chief Michael Johnson said.
Rogge has a history of alcohol-related offenses and was taken from court in cuffs Tuesday night when the judge doubled her bail. Her attorney had nothing to say as he left court.
The police chief said the 13-year-old should feel proud.
"The 13-year-old was very responsive. You can't fault her. Some people might say she turned her mother in, but they are better off for it," Chief Johnson said.
Rogge's attorney, Joseph Tock, did release a statement saying: "She recognizes she has a serious disease and will be seeking in-patient treatment immediately."
Rogge's neighbors are pulling for her.
"Hopefully this will be the thing that that stops her from doing this again -- and fortunately nobody got hurt," Howard Pearl said.
Rogge's bail is now set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. Her treatment will begin -- we're told -- as soon as she makes the new higher bail.
Police said Rogge's blood-alcohol was .22 -- almost three times the legal limit.
