2 Wounded, Gunman Charged In East Orange Shooting
EAST ORANGE, N.J. (CBS) ―
A gunman who authorities say shot two men in East Orange after the three argued early Saturday has been charged with attempted murder.
Steven Johnson of Irvington also faces several weapons charges in the incident that occurred around 1 a.m. on South Munn Street in the northern New Jersey community.
Both victims were expected to recover from their wounds, but they remained in East Orange Hospital on Saturday night. Authorities say a 20-year-old East Orange man was shot in the chest, while an 18-year-old resident was hit in the shoulder.
It was not immediately clear how many times the men had been shot or what the three men were arguing about.
Bail had not yet been set for the 22-year-old Johnson, and it was not known if he had retained a lawyer.
East Orange is located in Essex County, New Jersey. As of the United States 2000 Census, the city had a total population of 69,824.
