Theodore Pressman, 48, is charged with reckless endangerment after leaving his elderly father in a sweltering hot car for three hours.

A defense lawyer says the New Yorker charged with leaving his elderly parents in a hot car -- apparently causing his father's death -- is the only one who can properly care for his mother.
Lawyer William Tendy persuaded a Peekskill judge on Thursday to modify a court order that kept Theodore Pressman away from his mother.
The son will now be allowed to prepare Joyce Pressman's food and visit with her under supervision.
A doctor and the woman's sister say Theodore Pressman has been his mother's primary caregiver and a loving son. The doctor says she is anorexic and would die without him.
Pressman was charged Wednesday with reckless endangerment for allegedly leaving his parents in his car while he went to work. His 85-year-old father was dead when he returned.
